Fishing the Wild West TV April 2021 Newsletter

The 2021 fair-weather fishing season is right around the corner and for many reasons, I’m more excited than ever before to get on the water. It’s amazing how office-heavy an outdoor show can be. We have been stuck in the office since well before Christmas and even missed some of the November deer hunting season so we could meet network deadlines. We had to have all 13-episodes and commercials edited and delivered to the networks by February 15 along with a wide variety of production projects completed by April 01, 2021. Not to mention, line up the 2021 Fishing the Wild West TV (FTWWTV) season and complete all sponsor obligations. It has kept us extremely busy. Many of you have reached out to us and we greatly appreciate the kind words and encouragement from our supporters and followers.

We started shooting season 7 of FTWWTV during the ice fishing season, however we are excited to start our open water season shooting episodes one and two in southern Saskatchewan’s Fort Qu’Appelle area. Saskatchewan has always been so good to us and in my opinion, the province of Saskatchewan is one of the best freshwater fisheries in the world. During our stay in the Fort Qu’Appelle area, we will be staying at Sundays Log Cabins https://www.sundayslogcabins.com and fishing out of the Tracker Targa V19 on four different lakes for four different fish species just minutes from our cabin door. We are putting a great deal of focus on central and southern Saskatchewan waterbodies this season as we don’t believe this area of Saskatchewan get’s enough credit for its world-class waterbodies, fishing, and amazing people that call central and southern Saskatchewan home. Where else can you launch your boat and talk hunting, fishing, farming and ranching with the people launching their boat beside you? https://www.tourismsaskatchewan.com

From Saskatchewan, we will be heading to beautiful Merritt, British Columbia, and the Nicola Valley where you can “Fish a Lake a Day for as Long as You Stay”. Tourism Nicola Valley and the town of Merritt BC are rolling out the red carpet for FtWWTV and we can’t wait to do battle with a variety of trout species and being a part of a variety of community events. We have been in constant contact with Greg & Melvina from Merritt BC and Nicola Valley throughout the winter months and we were even featured live on Nicola Valley Talk https://experiencenicolavalley.com/talk-show with host Tania Stewart and the brothers of Tourism Greg and Colin Girard on their very popular EH Traveling Talk Show. https://britishcolumbia.com/plan-your-trip/regions-and-towns/thompson-okanagan/nicola-valley

We at FTWWTV would like to give a special Thank You to Master Promotions and the Toronto, Alberta, (Calgary & Edmonton) and British Columbia Sportsmen’s Shows. Under the circumstances, live sports shows were not possible during the winter and spring months. However, to keep everyone connected, Master Promotions went virtual with their Sportsmen’s Shows for the entire month of March. I was fortunate enough to provide online fishing seminars for all four shows.

I virtually surfed all the exhibitors at all four shows several times and thought everyone involved did an incredible job under the circumstances. The virtual Sportsmen’s Shows will remain live for an extended period of time and the virtual Sportsmen’s Shows are definitely worth checking out.

I’m sure I speak for all of us, that we look forward to shaking hands and talking everything outdoors at the Sportsmen’s Shows next year. Please check out the Sportsmen’s Shows in your area.

Hooked Magazine has also done everything in its power to keep us all connected. Hooked Magazine has put out monthly newsletters, bi-monthly fishing reports from across the country, the Complete Angler podcast with Don Lamont, and of course, the popular Hooked Magazine. Stay connected on all Hooked Magazine outlets and subscribe to Hooked Magazine today.

There has never been a better time to take in a drive-to-lake trip of a lifetime. Thompson’s Resort & Adventure Destinations International a mere 80-kilometers north of La Ronge, Saskatchewan, has put some incredible fishing adventures together for this summer. Once anglers arrive at Thompson’s Resort, they can check into one of Thompson’s Resort’s beautiful log cabins. Regardless of the size of your group, Thompson’s Resort has accommodations that will suit your needs. Traveling anglers can rent a boat, rent a boat and guide, or bring their own boat and launch at the public boat launch and fish Otter Lake which is right outside your cabin door and loaded with northern pike, walleye and sauger. Or, Thompson’s Resort can be a stopover before you fly into your all-inclusive fishing adventure at the new Twin Falls Lodge. Twin Falls Lodge has been in operation since 1962 and has seen a lot of angler’s dreams come true. 2021 will see the opening of the brand-new Twin Falls Lodge. Anglers will be treated like a king/queen at the lodge and fish with knowledgeable local guides for northern pike and walleye.

From Thompson’s Resort anglers can also book a self-guided fly-out fishing trip of a lifetime to one of 15-different untouched lakes. Depending on the outpost adventure you choose, anglers can fish for lake trout, walleye, northern pike, and Arctic grayling, and have the opportunity of a fish of a lifetime with every cast. You can also book day trips to untouched lakes a mere 15-minute float-plane flight from Thompson’s Resort. Catch trophy fish all day long surrounded by breathtaking scenery then return to your cabin at Thompson’s Resort in the evening to cook your catch in the privacy of your cabin.

Adventure Destinations International and Thompson’s Resort can put together any fishing adventure you like and you still have all the amenities and comforts of home.

I will be the Master of Ceremonies for the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society’s (FRSCS) “Keeping the Legend Alive”. Join me and many other conservation-minded outdoorsmen and women on April 01-15, 2021, to raise funds and awareness for this amazing prehistoric fish species. Again, due to the circumstances, the 2021 awards, auction, and Gala will be brought to you virtually and I will be hosting remotely from the Conservation Room at the Calgary, Alberta, Bass Pro Shops. However, that means you can enjoy your favorite beverage from the comfort of your home adopting a sturgeon, donating to a worthy cause, or bidding on the many incredible action items to raise conservation funds for the Fraser River white sturgeon.  www.frasersturgeon.com and www.frscsauction.com
